A Conversation With Patricia Miller & Lauren Ash: Celebrating The Legacy Of Lillian Lazenberry-Martin

Our mothers are our first experiences of God. Their wombs are the portals of our greatness — our entrance into this dimension and to our true purpose on the Earth. Give thanks. Here at Black Girl In Om, we want to honor the legacy of our founder Lauren Ash’s grandmother Lillian Lazenberry-Martin and her queen mother Patricia Miller. We give thanks for the powerful legacy that has ultimately led to our divine resource for black women’s wellness and healing — Black Girl In Om.

4 Reasons Why Latham Thomas’ Own Your Glow is Resonating Deeply Right Now

My appreciation for Latham Thomas and her work has only deepened since I first met her in Manhattan on the High Line for a walk, ice cream, and casual chat about wellness as women of color three years ago. When she divulged inside-scoop details about her forthcoming release, Own Your Glow: A Soulful Guide to Luminous Living and Crowning the Queen Within to me over brunch a couple of months ago during a visit to Chicago, I thought: there has to be some way to fold this obviously enriching read into Black Girl In Om!

As I look back at the past year, I can identify distinct ways that I acted and moved in alignment with achieving this opportunity, although it was never a goal of mine, never a possibility that even crossed my mind.

What We're Loving Lately: Staying Hydrated

What We're Loving Lately: Staying Hydrated

Winter in the midwest is the ultimate scam. Native Midwesterners like me carry unique, er twisted, realities: we tell ourselves that six months of mostly sunny, warm weather justifies six months of nightmarish cold, harsh winds, and sidewalk situations that we can't even wear regular shoes in.

Think I'm being dramatic? Winter means shorter days, more layers that I don't enjoy peeling off, and a tendency to neglect my H20 game.

29 Things I Know for Sure: Life Lessons from Lauren Ash

I just turned 29 (#SagSeason). I'm already really, really into this year and what it already symbolizes for me. Rather than terror at the thought of nearly stepping into my thirties, I'm excited. I'm an advocate of taking intentional time to reflect on our life journeys and our self-care journeys, more specifically. So, in the spirit of reflection, I'm sharing twenty-nine things I know for sure.
